Functional Capacity Evaluation

A Functional Capacity Evaluation is an in-depth assessment of an individual with a medical condition or injury that impacts their capacity to carry out daily tasks, primarily concentrating on their work-related capabilities.

The individual’s functional abilities are assessed through an interview, standardized and non-standardized tests, collateral information and, if necessary, a work or home visit. Their capabilities are compared with their specific personal, social and work needs to determine if these needs are met, or if intervention or accommodations are necessary.

The assessment findings and recommendations are outlined in a detailed report, which can be used to assist with:

• Medico-legal claims
• Insurance incapacity claims
• Injury on-duty claims
• Employee accommodations
